Week 4 Assignment number 2 Use of technology in ELL instruction

The article I chose to discuss about talks about the importance of “New Directions for technology use in ELL instruction”. ELL learners need constant support and their focus should be on the importance of correctness and frequency in the language learning process. Learning a new language can be done through repetitions and rehearsal and it is also a challenge to teachers’ patience. Now with the new latest on-going technology, teaching can accommodate the student’s individual needs effectively and efficiently. Because with the use of technological tools learners can follow their own individual pace and improve their weakness and acquire new language skills. Technology allows students to reach out for assistance without time restrictions. Technology has aided ELL students because being able to use technology and internet allows students to connect virtually. As a teacher I would like to implement mini lessons as a whole class and students should be allowed to share their ideas to make the lessons more fun and I believe student centered classroom stimulate unmotivated learners and foster the self-directed learning.
